From within the river, I watch as the large black bear scoops up some water and splashes it on his face. Slowly, I perk my head above the surface, barly visible, just enough to see. The bear has a major scar on his face, and just then, a little cub, chasing after a squirrel stops and approaches the bear, a second cub near him. I watch with interest, and ponder whether or not I should play a joke on these three. I was quite good at it, really, and I had a hard time passing up the opportunity to pull a prank on someone. I decided to watch them a little longer and wait.

Urctos flattened his ears at the cub's offer. It was a hard decision... he merely wanted to stay alone and be mopey and such, but these young bears came first. Where were there parents? The black grizzly shook his skull lightly at the thought. He rose stiffly from his haunches and back to his feet. He might as well go along...but he was more worried about the cub's....'friends'. Would they accept him and treat his scar like he said? He didn't know.
A strange ripple in the river caught his attention, but he ignored it as a leaping fish. Urctos trudged toward the little ones with a downcast stare, his young, teen voice silent in agreement as he began to follow the pair of cubs.

The bear, without saying a word, accepted Koda's offer to come along with us. I still had my doubts, but Koda trusts him, I might as well give the guy a chance too.
"Are you sure about this?" I whispered in Koda's ear.
I couldn't help but look back at the bear following us, I could see on his face that he's afraid, a stare that expressed an afraid thought of not fitting in. I slowed my walking to let the bear catch up and I continued walking at the same pace as the bear.
"Hey, are you...feeling alright?" I asked, "Don't worry, there's nothing to be scared of."

The bear decides to follow us, and I'm glad he does. That wound needed tending to. Kenai would know what to do. Ken'ichi whispered in my ear about whether or not I was sure about this. I nodded and whispered back.
"Yeah, he seems lonesome and hurt, don't worry, my big brother Kenai will know what to do!" I say with a grin. As Ken'ichi trots ahead to talk to the bear, I can't help but see a resemblance between the two, being as both have black fur.
OOC: If no one wants to play Kenai in this one, I'll do it. But I don't want to take it from anyone if they want it!

The cubs have walked ahead of his slow pace, and Urctos quietly watched them from afar. He observed them whispering something together, which made him a bit insecure.
"Hey, are you...feeling alright?" a small voice asked, "Don't worry, there's nothing to be scared of."
The bear looked up from the ground at the little black cub walking beside him, his kind words lifted the burden of worry from Urctos's spirit. A tiny smile lifted his snout but it quickly vanished as he continued to stare ahead. There was some anxiety left within him because of many past experiences with other bears. Urctos furrowed his brow at the thought, turning just barely to face the cub again.
"Are...are you sure?" he asked in a timid manner.

I felt like I could trust this bear, he's probably just like me, cautious when around new people. He asked if I was sure if there's nothing to be scared of, I know bears are friendly to other bears, I been to this region of the forest a lot. I gave a smile and nodded.
"I'm sure."
I looked at the bear's face, he seemed uncomfortable, I know how that feels. I felt like that when I met Koda, but it went away after we got to know each other's name and trusted each other.
"By the way, my name is Ken'ichi. What's yours?"

Ken'ichi... he had to remember that. His train of thoughts often derailed, and he sometimes had forgotten some of the woodland creatures' names. But that other bear cub and Ken'ichi... they seemed so much as friends he never met before, even though they were together for a few minutes. Urctos's cheek twitched in another attempt to smile.
"Urctos...it's Urctos." The bear glanced up at the little brown furball scampering ahead of them and asked, "What's his...name?"

OOC: Hey Koda, why so quiet in front of us? I looked at the bear, he was...rather disturbed by something, but he shook it off and told me his name, Urctos. I couldn't help but get the feeling that I was being watched by someone, in the water. I looked at the water and could've sworn I saw something disappear into the water. I shifted my sights to Urctos when he asked me the name of the cub he was looking at. I looked at the same direction Urctos was facing. "Him? His name is Koda." I looked back at Urctos, he still has that timid look on his face, I decided to take another whack at breaking the ice. "So, where are you from?" I asked as I looked at Urctos.

OOC: whoops! A little too quiet for comfort, eh? Must mean Koda is up to something...or something.....or I was just lazy! I'm back!
BIC: I trod on ahead, humming to myself, as I hear Ken'ichi and the other bear talking. I catch that the bear's name is Urctos, and Ken'ichi tells Urctos my name. I bounce back to where they are.
"So, Urctos, right?" I ask as he nods, "well, Urctos, you don't have to worry about a thing, I know some bears who can help with that cut quicker than a bee goes from flower to flower. I once knew a bear who almost had his arm ripped off by a hunter, and now you can hardly tell it ever happened, but he still limps a little, like this:" I start to limp on my right forepaw, exaggerating the movements. "But don't worry, that's just a scratch on your face compared to what I've seen before!" I hope this will cheer the bear up a bit as we continue onto the river.

OOC: Hey Rebel, are you going to join or are you still watching us to pull your prank? BIC: Before Urctos could tell me from where he's from, Koda appeared next to me as if he popped out of nowhere and joined our conversation, which really startled me. He started telling a story about a bear who almost got his arm ripped off by a hunter, then he started imitating the bear's limp walking, supposedly a result for the injury. I laughed at Koda's imitation. Maybe Koda just did it to either make Urctos feel better, or that he was just bored. Anyway, I looked forward and saw that we're nearing the river Koda was talking about. I saw a lot of bears too, though, I began to feel a little uneasy too when I saw just how many bears are there. OOC2: Hey Koda, it seems nobody is going to be Kenai, how about you take his role?

OOC: okeedoke, I'll take the roll of Kenai!
I see that we were nearing the river and looking ahead, I see my big brother, Kenai. Glad to see him, I run over to him, hoping he can help out Urctos. Dragging him over, I introduce him to my new friends.
"This is Urctos, and this is Ken'ichi." I say, "Urctos, Ken'ichi, this is my big brother, Kenai!" I explain to Kenai about Urctos's wound, and hope he can help.

Sitting in peaceful bliss, with the sound of running water to soothe me, the next thing I hear is Koda padding over to me and pulling me up.
"Koda? What's going on, what's the matter?" I ask, hoping there's nothing wrong. Koda explains that he's met some new friends and he drags me over. I see a large black bear and a small black bear cub, and I guess that they are related. Koda introduces them as Urctos (the larger bear) and Ken'ichi (the cub). I smile in greeting, then Koda explains about some wound Urctos has. I look up worriedly at the large bear's face, and do indeed see a nasty cut. Worry fills my eyes, and I feel awful that I don't know what to do. Tanana would know how to help him......no, I couldn't take them to her, it would be too suspicious and they would be too afraid to come near a human. I made a suggestion.
"Gee, I'm really sorry, Urctos, but I can't do anything for your wound, but I'm sure there's a bear somewhere down here who could help." I nod to the river, and started walking, hoping the others would follow.

OOC: Hehe, here I am...lying in wait...mwa haha!!! ahem!
BIC: I sit silently in the water, eyeing the three bears, and following them as they make their way down stream. I slowly float along with the flow of the steady water, hardly having to move a muscle. They come to a stop near where the stream joins the river, and I swim agains the current, to find out where they will be headed. The look on the two large bear's faces is one of worry, and I wonder if I should play a prank at all. I feel a little guilty now, having even thought of it, but I still follow them as the near the river. Who knows, maybe I could be some help to them?

I followed Koda to a big bear, he introduced us to him and introduced him as Kenai, his big brother. I chuckled nervously, not knowing exactly what to say.
"Ummm...hi?" Way to say hello Ken'ichi...
I frowned when kenai told us that he doesn't know what to do about Urctos' wound, but he did told us he might know of a bear who can help, so we followed him. Suddenly, my ears catch a sound of a small splash behind me, I turn around, nothing, but I kind of saw something swimming. This was the second time I see something in the water. I stop and turn around to check it out, but I couldn't see it anymore, it was fast whatever it was.

As we near the river in search of a bear who can help, I notice something moving about, or at least I think I do. It could be just my mind playing tricks on me. We all arive at the rivers edge, and I suggest we wait while Kenai goes to find someone. I look up at Urctos.
"Don't worry, we'll find someone!" I say. Then, playfully, I splash some water on Ken'ichi!
