It was a sunny spring day in the northern territory. Kenai was stretched out near a stream, trying to snooze the day away. The sky was clear and the sun was bright, it was almost too good of a day to sleep - unless your a tad bit on the lazy side. Having to watch over Koda kept the human-turned-bear very busy, though. But he was content with his life now that he accepted his path.
He rolled over on his back and yawned, happily taking in the sound of the stream flowing against the rocks.

Is it really the sound of the stream flowing against the rocks or is it the sound of a moose guzzling the water like a stinking camel? After spending the majority of the morning feasting on forest greens, Rutt has come to the stream to quench his thirst--then he'll probably go back to eating. However, he notices Kenai snoozing on the bank and, after drinking his fill, he mosies over to the bear and stands over him, watching him sleep. He might go unnoticed by Kenai--if not for the fact that he is slobbering water all over the bear's head.

Ah, the sound of the stream, the cool breeze brushing through his thick chocolate colored fur, the dripping of water on his nose.. dripping water? That wasn't right. His eyes opened wide as he stared Rutt in the eyes. He let out a cry of surprise, bounding up on all fours and then falling back into the stream, sending a huge splash of water flying onto Rutt. He sat in the stream for a minute without speaking, his fur soaked and his eyes wide. Finally, he squinted as he looked at Rutt.
"You know, there are better ways to wake a guy up from his morning nap."

Rutt, startled by Kenai's reaction, staggers back and falls into a sitting position when his back legs trip over a large stick. He blinks and shakes his head, recovering from the impulsive "flight" animal instinct and, after a moment or two of being in the awkward position--for a moose--he struggles to his feet.
"Sorry, eh," he apologizes sincerely, walking back to the edge of the stream, "You just looked so cute sleepin' like a lil' teddy bear--all fuzzy and harmless, eh? Didja know you snore almost as loud as my brother?"
He chuckles--a sound accompanied by the trademark snort of a moose--and stomps a front hoof, finding his comment to be funny, though he's probably the only one laughing.
"So what's a better way to wake a sleepin' bear, eh?" he asks, "I'll try to remember the dos and don'ts without em'bear'rassing myself."
He puts an emphasis on the "bear" sound in the word and cracks up again, though--no doubt--he's probably still the only one laughing.

Kenai rolls his eyes up at Rutt's jokes as he pulls himself out of the stream, he shakes off the water as best he can. Snorting at Rutt's bear puns, he raises a brow at the moose.
"Well, for starters, you might want to keep your slobber to yourself."
He raises his paw under Rutt's chin, pressing it upward to close the moose's mouth.
"And you might want to avoid looking a bear in the eyes when he wakes up. You never know when he last ate."
He forces a smile to show off a mouthfull of fangs, then bringing his paw away from Rutt's muzzle, he plops back on the ground lazyily, rolling back into his favorite napping position.

Rutt looks thoughtful for a moment, contorting his expression into an almost painful "thinking" face. You can really tell he's struggling to make sense of Kenai's instructions.
"Okay, so does that mean I should avoid looking a bear in the eyes up close 'cause I dunno when he last ate and when I scare him and he screams in my face, his breath might stink so bad I keel over, eh?" his expression says he thinks this idea makes a lot of sense, "'Cause, I mean, not for nothin', eh, but when you screamed, your breath smelled fishy, eh--like low tide. Whew! You really oughta consider chewin' some peppermint leaves or somethin' after meals, eh?"
He fans a hoof in front of his nose as if to clear the memory of the fishy smell he's spoken of. Of course, one can't really tell whether he's joking when he says this or he's serious. His dimwitted ways--if nothing else--are consistant.

"Oh, Rutt!"
Kenai groans irritably, placing his large paws over his head.
"Why don't you go finish eatting? Can't you see I'm trying to get some sleep?"
Sighing softly, he tries to ignore Rutt's persistant ramblings and bad jokes as he attempts to fall back into a restful sleep.

Rutt frowns and shrugs his shaggy shoulders. His theory makes sense to him. Maybe it's because he's speaking in moose terms that bears don't understand.
"Musta gone over your head, eh?" he asks, thinking Kenai is the one who isn't understanding things properly, "Well, actually, I was only eatin' 'cause I was bored, but then I ran into you and--well, I'm not bored anymore, eh?"
Apparently, Rutt can't take the hint for him to get lost and leave Kenai alone. The moose's intuition is probably running a few hours behind today.

Kenai's eyes open slowly as the bear comes to the depressing realization that there will be no nap with the moose around. He stands up, sidestepping around Rutt, and walking off down stream.
"And this is what happens when you allow moose to befriend you..."
As soon as hes a good distance away from Rutt, he plops down again, making himself comfortable as he closes his eyes.

Rutt watches Kenai pad off and he starts to follow, but he pauses as a tasty-looking patch of grass catches his eye. Being that it's new spring grass, how can a moose resist? Besides, if he doesn't get it now, Tuke might come along later and demolish it. Once any sign of new grass has been erased, he lumbers off at an awkward trot to catch up with Kenai.
"Hey, sorry to keep ya waitin, Bear-boy," he pants, hoping he doesn't get a cramp from moving at a relatively fast pace so soon after eating, "See, I saw this patch of grass and I figured I'd better nab it b'fore Tuke does, eh? So, uh...what were we talkin' about?"

There was just no escaping from that moose, though Kenai as he groaned. He sat up and stared at Rutt.
"We were talking about how you should go find your brother and let me take a nap. I'm pretty sure that was it."
He gave Rutt a flat look, hoping he might catch on this time, but realizing that he probably wouldn't. So he sat there, gazing tiredly at the moose, giving up getting rid of him long enough to take a nap.

Maybe, just maybe Rutt will get the mess<---"moose"age this time. Maybe, but not likely.
"So, d'ya want me to bring Tuke back with me, eh?" he asks, "Then we can go...do somethin'? If I know anything, he's still makin' a pig of himself on some shrub that he wouldn't share with me. Brothers, eh? Go figure. Speakin' of brothers, where's yours? The lil' guy there...Koda, eh?"

"Oh sure, why not bring Tuke back. More moose for everyone."
Kenai speaks without enthusiasm as he lays down again, resting his head on his large paws. His ears twitch as Rutt mentions Koda.
"Koda? Oh, he's probably out climbing trees. You know how cubs are. Why don't you go find Tuke now?"
He inquires with a hint of a smile, hoping Rutt will get lost along the way. The longer hes gone, the better the nap.

Rutt nods, still oblivious to the fact that Kenai is being sarcastic and is trying to get rid of him."Well, whatever you say, eh," he chuckles and snorts as he starts to trample off, but he pauses for a moment and looks back at Kenai, "Hey, if I see Koda, you want me to send 'im your way, eh?" OOC- Hmm...I might hafta register Tuke and use him in here too, eh?

"Koda... sure.. why not.. just go already. Uggh."
Kenai gets up, turns his backside to the moose and lays down again, paws over his head as he waits quietly for the moose to leave.
00C - Yeah, we need a Tuke. : ( And a Koda. And.. more feature characters.. *whines* Its hard to get new members.
