Life with Koda

[Ken'ichi]

The wolf identified himself as Kadzait. The wolf is as friendly as the others, I realized that and dropped my guard, I feel I can trust him. Though, the look I gave him when I saw him probably made him feel uneasy and moved to leave. I don't get it, why do I have such a hard time trusting others? I mean, I know it has to do with what happened to me a few years ago, but I could trust everyone I met so far, why am I still precautious around new faces? What's life without taking chances in trusting others? I have to take that chance every once in a while.

"Wait..." I called to Kadzait, "You don't have to leave." Kadzait looked at me, "I just felt a little uneasy, I never met a wolf before."

I certainly haven't, but have the others?

[Nikiski]

"Ugh, my name's Nikiski."

I say as Spectrue is walking over. The wolf is looking nervous.

"Don't worry, Kadzait, he's harmless... I mean..."

I cannot find the words to express what I want to say...

"W-wait, wait. I'd like to welcome you here... Er... Ya."

Feeling weird talking to a wolf... He's probably the first wolf I've ever talked to. Ken'ichi asks me who he is.

"He's Kadzait."

I turn to Spectrue.

"Hey buddy, over here. Want to meet our new friend?"

I asks Kadzait as Spectrue is walking over.

"So, Kadzait, where are you from?"

I listen to Kadzait telling his story.

[Spectrum]

Turning to Ken'ichi already near us, I felt a little more secure. Then I noticed that the wolf, in his eyes, seemed to be trustful. I decided to let go of my stance of being careful and sighed. Niki tells him his name. I walk catiously over, finding the fear in the wolf's eyes flare up a bit. I stop short, but Niki mentions his name, Kadzait. I remember it now, and he also implies to him that I'm harmless. Harmless? Not likely. More like 'not going to hurt anyone right now', as long as no one would fire up.

"...Um...hi, Kadzait...Name's Spectrue.." I respond to Niki's request for him to come over. I gradually sit down next to Niki, and listen to what Kadzait has to say. Thinking in my mind, I feel that the wolf if very polite, no anuish or impatience. He seemed...friendly. I loosened up a bit as Niki asked him where he was from.
I motion my eyes to Ken'ichi's and motion for him to come over and listen. I wasn't about to be alone with just Niki and him. I didn't understand why I felt so insecure around a wolf. I'd always felt safe around Space...But that's because I know him. He's much stronger than I could ever be, so I was always trusting of him. It'll take time before I 'know' this canine, I think as I listen to him.

[Ken'ichi]

I see Spectrue dropping his guard, he's starting to trust Kadzait. Spectrue and Nikiski gave him their names.

"I'm Ken'ichi." I told him my name.

Nikiski asks him from where is he from, then I see Spectrue motioning me to come closer and listen. I walked closer and sat next to Spectrue, listening to Kadzait's story.

[Kadzait]

I feel a bit nervous, but the bears seem to lighten up to me. The bears introduce themselves, and the little cub, Ken'ichi seems very friendly, and I smile warmly at him.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ken'ichi." I say. I look to the larger bears. "And it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Nikiski and Spectrue." I nod. Spectrue looks a little wary, but lightens up a bit. I was about to leave, but the cub called out for me to stay, and inside I was grateful. I didn't really want to go off by myself again.

"Thank you, Ken'ichi, I wouldn't mind staying at all, actually." Nikiski then asks to hear my story. I pause, uneasily, unsure if I should tell them the whole story. After all, animals who had spent time with humans usually weren't thought very highly of. I decide to tell them the mere basics.

"Well, I was ousted from my pack a while ago, so I've been wandering quite some time. I guess they figured I had a curse. But, no worries, I bring no harm, and only wish to be friends." I smile. Maybe later I might tell them my whole story.

[Ken'ichi]

Kadzait told us that he was thrown out of his pack just recently, he told us how they thought he was cursed, he means us no harm and only wishes to make friends. I felt sorry for him, his friends rejecting him just because they believed he had a curse. Now that I heard his story, I felt glad I told Kadzait to stay.

"Ah don't worry about them Kadzait." I told him as I stood up. "They were probably jealous of you, they're no friends if they throw you out of their pack." I smiled as I looked at Kadzait, hoping that in some way I'm making him feel better. "Forget about them, you'll find another pack that'll accept you. But for now, why don't you stay around with us."

Now that I say these words, they're making me wonder, maybe I should do the same and forget about my past and letting go the things that bring sadness to my heart. Maybe it's my turn to move on and letting those bad moments behind. Time will only tell.

[Kadzait]

I smile at Ken'ichi's words to me. His kind words make me feel warm inside, and I realize what a good heart this cub has. And you know, he was right, I didn't have to worry about my other pack, I would in time find another one. For now, Ken'ichi had invited me to stay with the bears.

"Thank you for your offer, Ken'ichi," I say, politely, with warm smile, "I accept."

[Spectrum]

Listening attentively to Kadzait's story, I began to feel a bit of pity for him.

"Ah, I'm sorry that about that... But as Ken'ichi says, you may take part with us for a while."

Thinking lightly of my own past events, I began to wonder if I shall ever take my role in this world and make sense of it. I still barely believe that my own parents....My own friends and family...That I'd lost them in a dream I cannot uphold as a truthfully real experiance. But I feel it in my blood and veins, and I tell myself to be strong in my heart, soul, and mind, as I gesture to Kadzait,

"I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy being with us. I've quite a good time sense I've been in this region, with the others...I've been, as you say, wandering a bit myself these days. But, you never know what life brings..." Expecially my life, I think quietly to myself.

[Nikiski]

As Kadzait tells us his story, I can imagine how it feels when you are being kicked out of a clan. I don't know what kind of expression I have on my face, but surely Kadzait notices it.

It seems like Kadzait doesn't want to tell the whole story yet... may be he wants to tell us later.

"Hm... Interesting story... I'm sure you can tell us more tonight."

I smile, hoping that it will make Kadzait feel better.

As Ken'ichi is up, I think that we might as well go fishing together... I turn to Ken'ichi, Spectrue and Kadzait.

"Hey guys, ready for some fish?"

[Kadzait]

I nod at Nikiski and Spectrue, glad they accept me as well. Nikiski suggests we go catch some fish. Now they're talking!

"You betcha, I'm starved!" I say, while, with perfect timing, my stomach grumbles. I chuckle. "Shall we go?" I ask. We start off, and I walk with Ken'ichi, I had taken a special liking to this cub.

[Ken'ichi]

I kept smiling, I'm glad my words made Kadzait feel better, and he got pretty happy when Spectrue and Nikiski also agreed to let Kadzait to stay with us. Almost immediatly Nikiski suggested to go eat fish, I haven't eaten in a while, so I nodded. As we walked to the river, I noticed Kadzait walking right beside me. It's pretty cool to be friends with a wolf, a friend from a different race.

You're going to like it here." I say to Kadzait.

[Truttle]

I was swimming, fishing, having a great time. I had just caught a big salmon from a rock in the water, when suddenly I heard a very loud shout. Causing me to jump from surprise, slip and fall into the river which led directly to one of the slide falls.

"AAAAHHH CR-" *SPLASH* "Burble%#$&burble"

When I surface I look around and find Ken'ichi, Spectrue, and Nikiski looking at some wolf.

"Doh!!! I lost my salmon! What was that about?" I head on over,soaking wet, to go see what the big problem was.

"Hey guy's, whats going on? I heard someone scream. Who's that?" I said looking at the wolf.

[Nikiski]

Seeing them agree to eat, all of us start to walk towards the river.

Looking at them, I think of something fun to do, and I give them an evil smile.

I jump into the river, giving a HUGE splash, making everyone wet. Koda who's watching us from a distance laughs so loud that I can hear it from a distance.

"Well Kadzait, here's a fish for you!"

I manage to catch a few more. I share it with everybody.

I hear a splash. I look around, seeing Truttle in the water.

"Err. Truttle are you ok? Come here, meet our new friend here!"

[Spectrum]

Padding back with Niki and Kadzait getting wet from the splash, I sigh.

"I'm not really hungry...I'll...I'll go take a look around. I'll meet back up with you guys later. I hope to see you later, Kadzait. Sorry to be a loner but I wanna check something out..."

As I walk away, shaking my wet fur dry, I trudge nearer to the top of the salmon run, passing by friendly bears.

"Hi!" I wave to some of them. They greet me back with an honest smile. I was beggining to like this place...Soon I came upon a
a large lake like area. I think for a moment, then jump in. I was brutal hot from the sun, so this really refreshed me. Noone was around me at the time, so I relaxed a bit...

[Truttle]

"Nice to meet you. My name's Truttle." I say with a smile.
